M/s. L & T Ramboll consulting engineers, Chennai and salient features are described as under
* To facilitate easy movement of mother vessels thru Palk strait to the Tuticorin Port
* It reduces the traveling time of the vessels to reach Tuticorin Port By 424 Nautical Miles and voyage of 30 Hours
* The Total Length of the Cannel 167 KM. Out of which deepening requires to the extend 88 Km.
* The Total Project Cost Rs. 2233 Crores and Expected to Complete the project by 2008.
* The estimated No. of Transits of vessels for year 2008 would be 3055 and further expected
to grow 7147 transits in year 2025.
* This save the lot of fuel expenses and foreign currency outflow to the large extent. |
